The wolf's head on this blade nods to Fenrir of Norse myth, while the Vegvísir — often called the Viking compass — actually comes from much later Icelandic manuscripts of the 19th century, where it was described as a stave to keep the bearer from losing their way. The handle is hardwood, wrapped in leather strips for grip, and a genuine leather sheath is included.

How big is the axe?

It measures 21.25 inches overall, with a 5.5-inch blade and a 5.5-inch axe head width — hefty enough to feel powerful in hand.

Is this a functional axe or just for display?

It is fully functional with a sharp carbon steel blade, though we do not recommend using it for chopping wood. It is not a toy — keep it out of children's reach.

What do the wolf head and Vegvísir engravings mean?

The wolf's head evokes Fenrir, the great wolf of Norse mythology. The Vegvísir is an Icelandic magical stave first recorded in 19th-century manuscripts — not a Viking-Age find — described as a sign to help the bearer find their way through rough weather.

Does the axe ship worldwide?

Yes — it ships worldwide with tracked delivery and the leather sheath included, and shipping is free on orders over $129 (applied automatically at checkout).
