Description

The "Fenrisulfr" is a hand-forged, hardened bearded Viking axe in high-carbon AISI 1065 steel, with a hand-carved ash handle, named for Fenrir, the great wolf of Norse myth. Forged and hardened to be used, this is a working bearded axe (not an engraved display piece) that suits reenactment and bushcraft as well as the wall.

Fenrisulfr bearded axe: build & materials

  • Head: forged high-carbon steel (AISI 1065), hardened, a bearded (Skeggøx) profile.
  • Handle: hand-carved ash wood.
  • Overall length: 17.71" (450 mm); weight: 2.75 lb (1.25 kg).
  • Leather cover included; runic wooden box and engraving optional.

Named for Fenrir

The Fenrisulfr honours Fenrir, the great wolf (Old Norse Fenrisúlfr, "Fenrir's wolf"), bound by the gods and destined to break free at Ragnarök. Its bearded shape is the classic Viking axe profile, light in the hand and unmistakably Norse. Compare it with the rest of our Viking axes.
