Description
The "Svart Barbar" is a hand-forged Viking axe in high-carbon AISI 1065 steel with a carved ash handle, a functional axe hardened to ~48–54 HRC and finished with a leather sheath. Its name means "black barbarian," and it's built to be used as readily as displayed.
Svart Barbar axe: build & materials
- Head: forged high-carbon steel (AISI 1065), hardened to ~48–54 HRC.
- Handle: carved ash wood with Norse patterns.
- Head length: 6.69" (170 mm); cutting edge: 5.12" (130 mm).
- Overall length: 18.9" (480 mm); weight: 2 lb (1.3 kg).
- Leather sheath included; wooden box and engraving optional.
Forged to be used, not just hung
Because each head is forged and hardened by hand, the Svart Barbar carries its own hammered character, and the ash handle is carved with Norse patterns. The included leather sheath protects the edge for carry and storage, so it works for reenactment and outdoor use as much as the wall. Browse the rest of our Viking axes.
