Description
The "Othala" is a hand-forged, hand-carved Viking axe with a fully runic head and a wrapped beechwood handle, an ornate Norse display and collector's piece. Every step, from forging the head to etching the runes, is done by hand: no CNC, waterjet or pre-cut blanks.
Othala Viking axe: build & materials
- Head: forged high-carbon steel, then etched, engraved, oxidised and carved by hand, covered in runes.
- Handle: beechwood, wrapped for grip and contrast.
- Blade: 160 × 205 mm (6.29" × 8.07"); handle length: 620 mm (24.4"); weight: 1.4 kg.
- Optional custom engraving.
The meaning of the Othala rune
The axe is named after Othala (ᛟ), the Elder Futhark rune of heritage, ancestral land and inherited legacy.
