QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What is the Helm of Awe?
The Helm of Awe, Aegishjalmur, is an eight armed protective stave. As drawn today it comes from Icelandic grimoires of the 1600s and 1800s rather than Viking Age archaeology, although the name appears earlier in Old Norse poetry.
What do the runes around the edge say?
We sell the rune as ornament rather than as a translated inscription. Single Elder Futhark characters carry names and associations, but no recorded Viking Age text is being quoted here.
Is this a heavy ring?
No. At 8 to 9 g it is one of the lighter Helm of Awe rings in the range, with a slim band.
What sizes can I order?
Any US size, including half sizes, made individually for your order. It is handmade to order in 5 to 20 days.
