Is the Vegvisir a genuine Viking-Age symbol?
Not as it is drawn today. The Vegvisir appears in 19th-century Icelandic manuscripts and charm books, not in Viking-Age archaeology, so it belongs to a later Icelandic magical tradition rather than to the Viking Age itself. VikingsBrand would rather say that plainly than sell it as something it is not.
What does the word Vegvisir mean?
It translates roughly as way-finder or signpost, which is why it is widely called the Viking compass. The Icelandic manuscripts that record it describe it as a stave to keep its bearer from losing their way in bad weather.
What is the hoodie made from?
