Description
This sterling silver pendant renders a Viking axe in the Urnes style, the last of the Norse art styles (c. 1040 to 1150), known for slender, sinuous interlaced animals worked in openwork and named after the Urnes stave church in Norway. The axe was the most common Viking weapon and everyday tool, which makes it a lasting emblem of Norse heritage. Each piece is cast in 925 sterling silver and weighs about 13 g.
