Crossed Viking axes over a round shield, cast in 925 sterling silver. The Viking axe was the most common Norse weapon and everyday tool, and the round wooden shield with its iron boss was the warrior's standard defense, so together they read as a broad emblem of Norse heritage. The openwork is worked in the Urnes style, the last of the Viking art styles (c. 1040 to 1150), known for slender, interlaced animal forms. The pendant is handmade and weighs 13g.
