The Helm of Awe, Aegishjalmur, is drawn from Icelandic manuscripts of the 1600s and 1800s rather than from Viking Age finds. It is a later Icelandic stave, and we say so. Cubic zirconia is a modern synthetic stone, and we say so rather than implying a natural gem. The shield shaped face is shared across a small set of rings, each carrying a different Norse symbol.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What is the Helm of Awe?
The Helm of Awe, Aegishjalmur, is an eight armed protective stave. As drawn today it comes from Icelandic grimoires of the 1600s and 1800s, not from Viking Age archaeology, although the name appears earlier in Old Norse poetry.
Are the blue stones real gemstones?
No. They are cubic zirconia, a modern synthetic stone. We list it plainly rather than implying a natural gem.
What is the ring made of?
925 sterling silver set with cubic zirconia, weighing 10 g.
Which sizes can I order?
US 6 to 15, made individually to order in 3 to 15 days.
